Bio/Description

Toni Turano works closely with the dean of the faculty on policy, strategic planning, and resource allocation affecting faculty and academic departments and programs. Her special areas of responsibility include tenured and tenure-track faculty search authorizations and senior faculty searches and recruitment; compliance (such as conflicts of interest and commitment, research and professional misconduct); and faculty development (including hosting annual divisional meetings on the tenure process for assistant professors, and chairing the promotion and review committee for the lecturer ranks).

Toni’s previous professional experience was in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, where she served as assistant dean of academic affairs, and an Allston Burr senior tutor. She received her doctorate in history at Harvard, and taught there in both the Department of History and the Program in History and Literature.
