May 9, 2024Dear Postdocs and Associate Research Scholars,Thank you for participating in the voting process for the postdoc and associate research scholar unionization election over the past two days. Your voice has been instrumental in shaping the future of the community of professional researchers at Princeton University. The count for the election on May 8 and 9 indicates that the majority of voters have voted in favor of being represented by PUPS-UAW, a union affiliated with the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (“United Auto Workers”). The next step is for the National Labor Relations Board to provide a final confirmation and certification of the outcome of the election. If the union is certified, all Princeton postdocs and associate research scholars would be exclusively represented by the union in their dealings with the University concerning the terms and conditions of their employment. Once certified, we will move forward in good faith to engage constructively with the union to support all postdocs and associate research scholars at Princeton. This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for all of us. By working collaboratively, we seek to create positive outcomes that benefit everyone in our community. If you have any questions about the upcoming process, please contact Karen Haskin, associate dean for academic affairs, or Tithi Basu Mallik, assistant dean for postdoctoral affairs.Thank you for your continued contributions to Princeton University. We look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead as we embark on this journey together.Best,GJ ------ Gene Andrew JarrettDean of the FacultyWilliam S. Tod Professor of EnglishPrinceton University
